Barium sulfate is an important material in various industries. It is often used as an X-ray contrast agent in medical imaging and also has applications in the oil and gas industry, where it is used in the production of drilling fluids and as filler is used in plastics and rubber. Barium sulfate is also widely used in the paper and paint industry, where it is used as a white pigment, active support of titanium dioxide and to increase the density of paints and varnishes.
