Product information "brass powder, "antique gold" bronze , 40µm, flaky, red metallic pigment, stabilized"
This brass powder has been specifically manufactured for optical and functional applications and stands out due to its outstanding brilliance. With a medium to coarse particle size, it provides good coverage. This is a special alloy consisting primarily of copper and a small proportion of zinc. The alloy composition and the thermal treatment applied during production give this powder a brownish metallic sheen: the so-called Antique Gold finish!
In plastic processing, it achieves outstanding effects in HDPE, LDPE, ABS, and even PVC. Especially in this context, care should be taken during the production of masterbatches to ensure that the powder is exposed to only minimal shear forces and residence times at high temperatures. Otherwise, both factors could negatively affect the final visual result.
This powder is also perfectly suited for use in paints/coatings/2K resin and screen-printing processes. Even a ratio of 5/100 (pigment/binder) is sufficient to achieve a visually high-quality result. You will obtain an impressive copper-metallic effect – the surface will subsequently resemble polished and reflective copper sheet metal.
- Screen printing: The mesh size should be three times larger than the D90 value of the powder.
- Aerosol spray cans: The D90 value of the powder should be at least three times smaller than the nozzle diameter.
- Paints/coatings: Avoid mechanical stress caused by very high-speed mixers. This would damage the particles and destroy the metallic effect.
Typical chemical and physical specifications:
- Purity of base metals: 99.9% (copper), 99.95% (zinc)
- Color tone: Copper / Antique Gold
- Laser diffraction: D50 32 - 38 µm (typical)
- Bulk density: approx. 0.95 g/cm³
- Covering capacity: approx. 3200 cm³/g
- Acetone-soluble components: < 2.0%
CAS No.: 7440-50-8 (Copper), 7440-66-6 (Zinc)
